Security Breach at Epsilon Exposes UsPosted in Bloggies on April 07, 2011 by Paul Seldes The recent security lapse at mass email marketing giant Epsilon has potentially exposed the email addresses of tens of thousands to internet spammers and hackers. You may have already received messages from some of Epsilon’s clients warning you. Companies like Lowes, Best Buy, Citibank and other global corporate giants have had their data exposed. The unwanted spam messages for Viagra, business services, and Russian teen girls is bad enough. But we’ve also been exposed to various “phishing” messages that can….and will lead to identity theft and problems with bank accounts and credit cards. 2011 Hurricane SeasonPosted in Bloggies on April 06, 2011 by Paul Seldes 2011 Hurricane Season predictions have been released by the Colorado State University team and Dr William Gray. Thoughts on EgyptPosted in Bloggies on February 01, 2011 by Paul Seldes As we watch the ongoing and evolving crisis in Egypt it is important to note that the greatest threat to domestic stability in Egypt results from popular frustration with the country’s economic performance and lack of economic opportunity. Nearly 20% of Egypt's population lives below the poverty line, yet the per capita GDP is $6,200. The "official"unemployment rates rose from 7.9 percent in 2000 to 9.7 percent in 2010. However independent sources estimate real unemployment twelve and twenty-five percent of the labor force. The bottom line is that despite the relatively high levels of economic growth over the past few years, living conditions for the average Egyptian remain poor. It is this climate, combined with a heavy handed regime that is breeding a popular uprising. Did you know that more than 4,000 Americans die and 20,000 are injured due to fires? Or that fire property losses top $8.6 billion a year? And most of these fires are preventable. If there is a fire, don't waste time. Your survivability depends on speed.
